LINUX PROFESSIONAL INSTITUTE APPOINTS SACKE & ASSOCIATES INC. AS PUBLIC RELATIONS AGENCY OF RECORD

TORONTO, March 11, 2002 -- The Linux Professional Institute (LPI), (www.lpi.org)- a professional certification program for independent software vendors and training providers using the Linux operating system, has appointed Sacke & Associates Inc. (www.sackepr.com), a full service, technology-focused public and media relations organization as its agency of record, effective immediately.

"We believe in the need for a standardized, multi-national and respected program to certify levels of individual expertise in Linux," says LPI's Board Chairman Evan Leibovitch. "Appointing Sacke & Associates helps us communicate we are taking aggressive, planned steps to increase our visibility and leadership position in the technology sector to create industry recognition, provide an organizational path for students and offer an organizational mechanism for future training centers."

LPI's mandate is to design and deliver a certification program from within the Linux community, using both volunteer and hired resources. It resolves to undertake a well-considered, open, disciplined development process, leading directly to the establishment of a recognized and widely-endorsed Linux certification body.

"The easiest way to gain corporate, governmental and institutional support and usage of Linux is to ensure there is a solid support mechanism in place," adds LPI's President Chuck Mead. "Most of the major stakeholder companies in the Linux community have either put support in place or are in the process of doing so. The next logical step is to provide a path for Linux professionals to follow so they will be easily employable within this framework."

"We will facilitate building and expanding key relationships in North America for LPI with technology, vertical and business news media to position them as the de-facto industry authority in the Linux open source community," says Sacke & Associate Inc.'s Founder/President John Sacke. "By winning their business, it acknowledges not only our reach and breadth in the technology sector, but recognition of our successes for creating additional visibility and substantial stakeholder value that help our clients meet their business goals."
